City Champs!!!

Congratulations to the Taylor Senior Girls' Basketball team for winning the city championships yesterday at Herman High School. After 4 hard-fought quarters, Taylor nipped Eastwood at the buzzer on a last second shot by Haiden E. with 3.9 seconds left on the clock.

Final score, Taylor 25, Eastwood 24.

Chloe G. from 6/7M rebounded and passed the ball to Haiden for the winning shot.

"I jumped for joy and jumped on Haiden when the ball went in," states Chloe, with a huge grin on her face. "I couldn't believe it."

"I was almost out of hope at the end, but that shot went in and I screamed and jumped up and down. I was shocked," states Dina C. from 6/7M.

Great game girls!

6/7M Host Taylor's Black History Month Assembly

On Wednesday morning, 6/7M acted as host for Taylor's Black History Month Assemby.

Julie and Moe were excellent and professional MC's. Dina read a statement about Black History Month from Prime Minister Stephan Harper. Mrs. Bacon's class beautifully sang, "We're Different". Rebecca articulately read a brief history of Africville, a historically significant Nova Scotian town with African-Canadian roots. Tariq eloquently read a poem about Africville to complement Rebecca's brief history.

To conclude our assembly, we did an augmented reality presentation using the APP "Aurasma", to present brief Bios on significant African-Canadians, including our very own Mrs. Laforet, who is our school board's first African-Canadian, female administrator.

All in all, 6/7M did a magnificent job preparing for and hosting our assembly. Great job guys!
